Review: Ritual Vitamins

Ritual vitamins for women contain 9 essential nutrients: Folate, Omega-3 (vegan micro-algae), Vitamin B12, Vitamin D3 (vegan-certified D3 from lichen), Iron, Vitamin K2, Boron, Vitamin E, and Magnesium.

I was sold on the small size of the pill and that the bottle comes with a small mint tab that “flavors” the pills. I also was very excited that all the ingredients were vegan. I am not vegan, but I’ve found that other pills containing fish oil based omega-3’s leave that unsatisfactory taste in your mouth. You know what I’m talking about right? The fish oil burps. Gross.

I placed my order aware that there was reoccurring deliveries monthly and that I could cancel at any time. The vitamins arrived quickly and were well packaged with information about their contents.

Here’s my adventure with Ritual.

PROS: The size of the vitamins are great for easy swallowing. Their transparent pill casing looks cool. The mint tab flavors the vitamins enough to swallow them. The vitamin bottle itself is clear and looks exactly like the picture online. It is awesome that all 9 vegan nutrients are in one vitamin.

CONS: I thought the fish oil problem was finally solved. Weirdly enough, nope it has not been solved–even with Ritual’s vegan option of micro-algae. I couldn’t even finish a whole bottle of these vitamins because of the terrible after taste. The mint tab masks the smell/flavor when you take the vitamin, but after that, it is terrible. I went online to cancel my subscription and they offered me $10 off the next 3 months. I took them up on it and really tried to consistently take them, but I just couldn’t do it. So, I ended up cancelling all shipments.

Purchase Ritual Vitamins if you can handle the bad aftertaste. I’m not sure exactly what causes it, but my guess is the vegan Omega-3 micro-algae. I couldn’t do it.

Verdict: Save your $30. Get your Omega-3’s through sushi or salmon or something else and buy an inexpensive multi-vitamin.
