5 Things To Like From 2016


1.  Palo Santo Sticks.  “Palo Santo is a mystical tree that grows on the coast of South America and is related to Frankincense, Myrrh and Copal.  In Spanish, the name literally means “Holy Wood”.  It is part of the citrus family and has sweet notes of pine, mint and lemon.” (sacredwoodessence.com)  My local energy healer uses these sacred sticks.  The first time I smelled them I was reminded of the campfire at church camp when I was a kid.  I just love the sweet, cleansing sacredness of the smoke.  You can purchase Palo Santo at my Etsy shop MysticTeaTarot! 2.  Nag Champa Oil and Lotion.  I love the incense and I love the flower.  This is my favorite smell ever.  This distinct scent is earthy, grounding, and reminds me of my favorite record store.  I order my oil from a great Etsy shop called Naturals By Nana.  She has over 400 different scents.  We have a really cute shop in town that carries the Earthly Body line of Nag Champa lotion but you can order it online too.  It is potent, so a little goes a long way!  Get ready!  When you wear nag champa, people will compliment you on your smells! 3. Oatmeal + Blueberry Craisins + Walnuts.  This is not a new breakfast idea, but it is perfect for me to eat at my desk.  I combine the three ingredients in a pint sized mason jar, pour a serving into a coffee mug, add water and microwave.  Ta-da!  Hearty, filling, breakfast: done. 4. Timers. I use timers because I have a problem staying on task and I usually have about a bajillion things to do. Adulting is hard. Timers make it better. I usually use the timer on my microwave when I am cleaning. I set it for 20 minutes and after 20 minutes I give myself a 10 minute break where I read or write this blog (literally doing this right now as I do dishes) or pin on Pinterest or something. I set a timer for 15 minutes and read. I love to read, but it is sometimes it’s so damn hard to just sit down and do it. I also use timers when I meditate and during my “morning time”. 5. Treat YoSelf! Okay, so self-care rituals like taking a bath and meditation are really not “treats”. They are ways that we take a little time to take care of ourselves. Now treats–treats are the fun part! I ordered myself a really cool meditation cushion and a new book “Things I’d Like To Do With You” by Waylon Lewis (founder of Elephant Journal) just for me! Even if it is just treating yourself to your favorite meal or a pedicure, “treats” are essential to living a life of gratitude and inviting abundance into your life! (From August 4th, 2016)
